Overview
TriLayer Durra-Bull™ is a premium 1/8" (3mm) acrylic featuring three distinct color layers. The mission is to selectively engrave through the top and middle layers to reveal the core colors without melting the substrate. By following these protocols, you can test more and waste less, building professional-grade multi-colored signage and patches.
Materials Guidance
- Primary Substrate: TriLayer Durra-Bull™ Laserable Acrylic.
- Cleanup Strategy (The "Soap Trick"): Before engraving, spread a thin layer of Dawn Dish Detergent over the area to remove soot instantly with water.
- Residue Removal: For fine details, use an unscented baby wipe to lift remaining dust.

Focal Calibration:
- For certain Diode layers, a 1mm refocus may be required between passes to maintain beam density.
- Pro Tip: Turn Auto Planning OFF and Smart Settings ON in software like XCS.
The Protocol (Steps)
- Prep: Apply a thin layer of Dawn soap to the surface.
- Air Assist Calibration: Turn air OFF or to 10% during engraving to prevent melting.
- Layer 1 (Top Color): High-speed, low-power "Surface Pass" to remove only top-most color.
- Layer 2 (Middle Color): Increase power or perform a second pass. Adjust Z-axis by ~1mm if needed.
- The Cut Pass: Engage MAX air assist (100%) for polished edges.
- Final Cleanup: Rinse with water to remove soap and acrylic dust.
