LLB019: Make a Custom Rubber Stamp
Create a custom rubber stamp, mount it to the wood block, and produce a clean test impression.
MISSION OBJECTIVE
Create a Clean, Repeatable Custom Stamp
Turn the rubber, adhesive foam, and wood block into a working stamp with a crisp impression. The finished artwork must print in the correct direction, the raised areas must remain intact, and the rubber must mount evenly to the block.

BASELINE PROTOCOL
Build the Stamp
Prepare the artwork
Choose a high-contrast design. Mirror the complete design, including text, before sending it to the laser. Confirm that the areas you want to print will remain raised.
Secure and focus
Place the rubber completely flat and secure it so it cannot shift. Focus at the top surface of the rubber and verify the engraving area before starting.
Run a small test
Test a small portion of the artwork or a simple letter first. Confirm depth, edge quality, and residue before committing the full piece.
Engrave and cut
Run the engraving first, then cut the outer shape. Allow the material to cool before handling. Clean loose residue without damaging the raised artwork.
Test before mounting
Ink the loose rubber and make a test impression on scrap paper. Check direction, clarity, and background cleanup. Correct the file or settings before mounting if needed.
Mount the stamp
Apply the adhesive foam evenly to the wood block, then center the rubber on the foam. Press across the full surface so the rubber is supported without bubbles or high spots.
Finish the block
Optionally engrave the top of the wood block with a readable version of the stamp artwork. Make a final impression and record your best settings.

Power is shown as a percentage. Speed is shown in millimeters per second. LPC means lines per centimeter. LPI means lines per inch.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Common Failures
The text stamps backward
The artwork was not mirrored before engraving. Mirror the complete design and run another test.
The background prints
The engraved recess may be too shallow, or loose residue may remain. Increase depth cautiously or clean the rubber more thoroughly.
The center prints weakly
The rubber or foam may not be mounted evenly. Check for bubbles, gaps, or an uneven block surface.
Fine details disappear
The design may be too delicate for the chosen size, or the engraving may be too aggressive. Simplify the artwork or reduce heat input.
